Yeah, DoF looks pretty lame and is not EVEN worth the hit

When I play I do 1920x1200, VH/AAA/16AF/Tess w/no DoF. Even at these settings there's still some places (like in the Library level) that dip into 30's, which I immediately notice (ergo, it's not perfectly smooth), but it's still playable, esp. since there's no combat in these particular areas.

But thanks for throwing up your results Dray. Looks like even SLI 480's will struggle a little bit at 1080p fully-maxed.

Well I think it's been established that "butter smooth" to some can be as little as 13 FPS, lol

I guess by now I should be tired of telling people what they can and can't do in Metro, but ... again, I'm sorry ... there is no way.

And unless my memory is failing me in my old age (a possibility), I mean there is literally no way. You cannot 'set everything to max' and simultaneously turn off AA, because your only options in Very High mode are AAA or 4xMSAA ... both of which means AA is On. Very High = AA is on.

A single 5850 can do DX11 'High' (which allows AA to be Off) with everything else turned on (tess/ADoF) and provide what some would call a playable experience though. It probably just slipped your mind that you were on High not VH

Umm...what? I have no problem running Crysis maxed out on my 4870's.

Same with crysis, Max it out at around 40fps (fraps real world gameplay, no silly benchmark, and this is past the first few levels in heavy carnage) on 1080p but no AA or AF. I bet if I revert to DX9, and switch to High I can actually accomadate MSAA and 16x AF, which would make everything look smoother, if not just as gorgeous as Enthusiast does.
This is with a decent OC on sli gtx 460's, which are significantly better than HD 5970's or gtx 470 (STOCK) sli.
Dude what are you smokin? 460's better than a 5970? Wake the heck up. Hell, 5850's in crossfire beat 460's in SLI almost ALL of the time. There's maybe one game that SLI'd 460's beat out 5850's. And remember, you can OC the ATi cards too.

I just read through some reviews not too long ago when I was contemplating getting a couple of 460's, but then decided the gain over my CFX'd 4870's wasn't enough to go through the hassle. SLI'd 460's are maybe 30% faster, stock for stock.

If you need proof message me and ill make a youtube video for you hehehe!!
I totally agree with you, I have NO problems running Crysis maxed at 1080p.

As for Metro, I had no problems there either. I believe I turned AA down to 2x, but everything else was maxed. I played through a lot of the game without any issues.

Maybe Nvidia's just no good for the game?

I thought DOF is default on Very High and can only be enabled or disabled in the benchmark...
