Nice! You'll love it.

You don't need the linear psu for 8ohm speakers. The 30v/130w switching psu gives you maximum possible 44wpc into 8ohms.

Well the budget that I came up with was kind of arbitrary. Let me ask you this: What would you do for my situation with a $2000 budget?

Building my own enclosure for the driver is not something I'd likely enjoy, and thus I wouldn't really be motivated to do the research in order be able to do it right the first time. What I want is powerful, tight, and accurate sound representation.

The space it is in is large, and acoustically retarded. I'd say about 20x20, but certainly not square.
I haven't read anything past this post because this caught my eye. If you're going to spend $2,000 on a setup and the room sounds like crap, you really should spend a few hundred on making the room sound good because it will make WAY more of a difference than which sub/amp/speakers you get.

Agreed, but long story short: I have a room in my house that will make the perfect listening room, it is just re-purposed for the next year or so. After that time is up, I can always sell what I get now, and purchase something better suiting later.

+1 for the Sierras.

I own them and they outperform stand-mount monitors in the same price bracket and comparable to those more expensive (that I own, which includes NHT, Paradigm, Usher).

Bass response is very extended for small speakers. The 5" sounds more like a 8".

Thanks. Makes me feel better about the purchase.
