Dead Space 2 pc, I want to push the graphics even further on AA.

What is this more dependent on the cpu or gpu this game that is? I have nvidia inspector open and even tho I already beat the game I want to go back and play it again with slightly better graphics.

My first play through was with the game maxed out in regular settings with 4x but I'm going to overclock my nvidia card to see if I can atleast get 8x. Do you think I'll be able to get 8x if I overclock my card?

Make sure you turn off the in-game Vsync and force it in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Well, I completely maxed it 16xAF, 32xAA, 8xSS on my GTX 480 with generally less than 50% utilization, if I remember correctly, with Vsync on. Your GTX 470 can easily handle higher settings than what you're suggesting.

Download FRAPS for the FPS counter. Keep turning up the settings until it doesn't hold at 60fps. I don't forsee that happening.

I don't really notice a ton of difference between the AA's.

What resolution are you playing at? If it's 1080p or above, you'll have to look for it to notice the difference. I certainly did, going from stock to 32xAA; then again, I generally don't notice it when I'm getting mauled.

Could you take a snapshot to show me your settings in your Nvidia Inspector like mine?

I was forced to format yesterday, so I don't have my install at the moment. Bad Company 2 is in though, and I max that too. I don't bother with Inspector, I just use the Control Panel. I'll grab it quick though... brb.

Control panel works? I thought Control panel doesn't work on Dead Space games thats why ppl use Nvidia Inspector to force it?

Hmm.. I have no idea. I didn't ever think about it. Maybe it doesn't, there's always that chance that my mind was playing tricks on me when I noticed the AA.

I'm starting the download for DS2 through EA now. I'll report back when I have checked framerate and utilization. I'll take another Inspector screenie then as well.

EDIT: In the meantime, why don't you run the game with forced Vsync, and then use MSI Afterburner to check your GPU utilization. If the percentage is low, you have plenty of headroom.

Inspector would've looked something like this:

EDIT2: I don't play BC2 at these settings... I get like 40-45fps when nothing is happening

EDIT3: It probably won't be until tomorrow that I get back to this. I'm wondering why NCP wouldn't work and Inspector would. Both give you the same options for settings, including forcing/etc.
