Vertical (back mounted) radiator - push vs pull?

Thread Starter
Hello!

I have 2 RX360 radiators with 1850rpm GT fans. I will run them at 400-800rpm (mostly) and have my bigNG increase the fan speed as needed. However, for the most part, they will run at 400-800rpm. What do you guys reckon, should I run them push or pull? My radiator that will be mounted at the top of my 800D will probably run in pull. But for the radiator on the back, should I run push or pull on that? Note, if I run push, the fans will blow air against the back of the case.

Thanks in advance.

Nobody has any suggestions? Also, any tip on how to mount a radiator with fans in pull in a 800D? It'll be in the top.

Push is generally considered better than pull, however, depending on your setup, pull might be better for you. For my situation in my case, I can only have my fans pulling, because putting the bottom fans in push makes a ton of noise, and putting my top fans as push makes the fan rub up against the top panel. lol

Oh I see. So what do you recommend here? Should I go push or pull on my two brand new RX360? As I said, fan speeds will be quite low, even while gaming: 400-800rpm. One rad will be placed on on the roof of the 800D-case and the other hanging off the back. That is one vertical and one horizontal.

If you're asking whether you should have the fans pushing air through the radiator towards the case, or pushing air through the radiator towards open air, I'd guess the former might be better.

Note that the > symbol indicates direction of air flow.

Scenario 1
fresh air > fan > radiator > case

Scenario 2
case > fan > radiator > fresh air

In scenario 1, you're blowing fresh air through the radiator, whereas in scenario 2 you're sucking in hot air exhausted from the rear of the case (psu, gpu, etc.)

These are my options:

1) Case > radiator > fan (pull)
2) Fan > Radiator > Case (push)

Those are the only two and I can do..
