[CVG]Crysis 2 minimum specs revealed,Confirmed by EA's Blog - Page 24

People who think this game will look worse than Crysis are dumb. I would bet GTX580s will choke in SLI trying to max out this game.
May be more optimised, but it will likely be the next gen cards out this year which will only come reasonably close to maxing this out.

Good luck with that. My friend barely ran Crysis at 640x480 at lowest settings and his rig was (more or less) an OC'ed minimum requirements rig (ran his P4 at about 3.2GHz and had 2GB RAM instead of the 1GB minimum) and it was unplayable at 9-14FPS, he had to screw around with the config file and it still looked and played like crap. As much as I would like to see Crysis 2 run on minimum requirements (look at my rig, if anyone wants to be able to run it with older hardware, it's me lol), I'm willing to bet the price of the game that it'll never go anywhere near medium settings with minimum requirements at any resolution above 1024x768.

This game won't be stressing any top end dual gpu setup with a single monitor. I bet Battlefield 3 gives it an arse kicking in system requirements and visuals.

Yeah if you think about it the GPUs in PS3 systems is pretty similar to a 7800gt.

I think that's a given. MINIMUM requirements aren't there to say what can run it at medium settings. They should be there to say what's the minimum ("worst performing") hardware that can still technically run the game. The minimum settings are gonna run it on all the minimum graphical settings, at low resolution, and get like ~30 fps. Well, that's just what I get from using the term "MINIMUM". Perhaps they use the term but do not actually mean "minimum".

I have a feeling that the minimum requirements will run it at minimum graphical settings at 1024x768, maybe 800x600 (I hope they didn't make the resolution for those minimum requirements to be 640x480, that's an unreasonably low resolution to even consider).

Really? I had a 1GB DDR1, AMD 3800+X2 at 2.4 GHz, and a 7600GS and it ran low settings pretty decent. At a very low resolution mind you. A 9600GT was able to max high settings at a playable framerate at 1024x768. Though there was 512 Mb of more ram then.

I don't know what you guys were saying exactly, but minimum specs did run Crysis. The problem was between high and ultra settings where the performance was absolute jokes.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but i found this interview with Cevat Yerli:
Quote:
...The PC hardware requirements were also discussed a bit with Cevat saying that Crysis 2 PC has been designed to take the most out of the current high-end PC hardware on the market so, what comes to graphics cards, you should be able to max out the detail settings with the NVIDIA GeForce 4/5 and the AMD Radeon 5/6 cards out there. Also, people playing Crysis 2 using a PC with hardware on par with the minimum requirements should get a much higher-quality experience compared to that of Crysis

http://www.incrysis.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=931&Itemid=1

The interview was made on Feb 8, 2011 so its very recent. Looks like crysis 2 will actually run well, if the developers are telling the truth.

So Crysis was 3-4 years ahead of it's hardware, and Crysis 2 is 3-4 years behind. haha.

On a note, the game is A LOT more optimised then the first, they said this a while back, ALSO if your computer has the potential to make the game look better, the game will also use that to it's full extent, I'm expecting it to look pretty killer on my Rig.

Also I don't understand peoples talk of, "the graphics will be worst because it's on console" which is a lie, the game loses it's beauty for those platforms, we have the benefit, as always.
