Need some help tweaking this build

Thread Starter
Once again I am at a stopping point in my decision making abilities for building a new PC.

I will be gaming and watching movies on it mostly.

I've come up with 2 different builds and cannot decide which one to pull the trigger on... Got kind of a weird situation, It has to be under $950 shipped and my wife insists on the monitor in the build. I will have some extra money once it arrives so I can buy something around $80 after I sell my current rig to my in-laws.

I already have mouse+keyboard, 4HDDs, and any OS I desire

so my first build I was thinking of....

case: Corsair Graphite 600T $159.99
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 $104.99
PSU: Antec TruePower 650W Modular $89.99
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2GHz $199.99
RAM: Mushkin Enhanced DDR3 1333MHz 8GB(2x4GB) $82.99
Monitor: Hanns-G 18.5" $94.99
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr II SOC GTX 460 $149.99
DVD burner $16.99

total before shipping $899.92

with this build I plan on getting the Corsair H50 unit after my rig is sold.

2nd build

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 $59.99
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-890XA-UD3 $139.99
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr II SOC GTX 460 $149.99
PSU: Antec TruePower 650W Modular $89.99
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T $199.99
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz $46.99
Monitor: Hanns-G 18.5" $94.99
DVD Burner $16.99
Cooling: Corsair H50 $79.99
Case fans $14.97

total before shipping $893.88

with this build I can go spend money on things not related to my computer

As I said I am stuck between the two choices... that Corsair 600T is an awesome case and I believe I would use it for many builds. But on the other hand spending my $80 elsewhere would be nice....

Any help would be lovely!

I'll vote for the first build due to the superior enclosure. I'm not a big fan of the HAF enclosures so there may be some bias in my recommendation. Why the Graphite case, you'll probably own whichever case you buy for several PCs, maybe 3-4 years until you redecorate or you change your opinions about PC styling. It would be nice to have a good case, and the Graphite is the among the best there are. It is 100$ more, but considering how much you're gonna spend in the next few year on components this is maybe 5% of the total cost.

My 2 cents: save on the CPU, it's been widely reported the 1055 can reach around 4GHz. It's not BE and OCing may be a bit more tiresome, but if all goes well @4GHz it would be quasi-identical in performance to an easily OCable 1090BE @~4.2GHz

At least my 1055T was able to overclock easily to 4.0 with the stock cooler, I bought the NH-U12P anyways. Get the Corsair case definitely.

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112239 $110 shipped (Cases are very subjective, I just like this one more than the Corsair) This one already comes with lots of fans.
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131402 $84 shipped after $15 mir
Case fans: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103052 $19 shipped
Fan controller: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-005-_-Product $27 shipped
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103851 $180 shipped
CPU Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233029 $25 shipped after $20 mir (this should perform at least as well as an H50)
HDD: already have
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104203 $35 shipped after $15 mir (Significantly better ram than what you posted)
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-17371031-L07A $50 shipped after $10 mir (slightly overkill for a single 5770 and a quad core, but can't beat the price)
Optical drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827118039 $17 shipped
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150505 $163 shipped after $20 mir (Possible unlock to 6870)
Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-054-_-Product $95 shipped

Total = $805 shipped after $80 in mir ($885 + tax of 6% in KY shipped = $938)

Choose something other than 1333Mhz RAM - it would be siginificantly better for overclocking, for both RAM and the CPU.
You might like the NZXT Tempest EVO for a case.
Badwrench's suggestion is pretty optimal.

So I can't look at the suggestions right now....YAY FILTERS!

I'll check out the suggestions when I get home from work.... But I doubt I'll change from either of the cases that I picked out... I don't like the NZXT cases and not a fan of LEDs all over the place.... even on the 600T I plan on disconnecting the LEDs...

Also the board I show in both builds does not say that it works for 1600MHz RAM... 1066, 1333, and the rest are OC reachable.... maybe I'll play around some more and find some 1600 MHz within the budget

That's why the mobo I picked out is good for 1800 MHz

Well guys been hopping on the neighboring buildings wi-fi for a few moments here and there to see pics on my iPod Touch. I'm not impressed with the NZXT cases at all... Just something about them doesn't sit well ( some people like art....I like motherboards)

I would like some more suggestions for a gaming rig. The price must be below $950 shipped to my door (40475). I cannot go over that budget at all.... had to fight for every dollar I got already.

I'm very OCD about cable management...if I can see it I want to cut it out... Also as stated before wifey wants the Hanns-G 18.5" (she gets motion sick on larger monitors) and coming from my 15" its a big leap. I HATE LED lights, I keep this in my living room with 2 toddlers... lights + kids = broken equipment (ask my poor laptop).

As I said I am up for some more suggestions.... Please have fun trying to get this under budget with the best bang for my buck...(last one I get to build for a while)

All AMD motherboards (or rather, CPUs) are capable of running 1600Mhz memory via the (often undocumented) x8 multiplier, and have no problems doing so (except C2 revision, you may have to add voltage, and 1600Mhz won't work with 4 DIMMs + C2). For 1800Mhz, you'll have to up the base clock.
