Puretrak Valor Information Thread - Page 153

I never thought of touching this mouse, once I saw the youtube of the mouse wobbling. also I just ordered a Talent and HD mouse feet a couple days ago, and they sent it out almost 2 days ago. They're probably ignoring all Valor emails right now, because they know the mouse is screwed up and are trying to fix it.

This mouse is still not fixed? Absolutely incredible that they said it was going to be flawless. Then release it with more problems then a generic mouse you could buy off the Chinese market.

i emailed their support department about the firmware update... 2 hours later I got a response on a Saturday:

Quote:
Hello *******,

Firmware for the Valor has been our top priority since the discovered problems. However, because we're working with a very new sensor that is not widely supported, we are having to do a vast amount of trial and error tests on our end to ensure the next release is in fact a 100% resolution for those having issues with the current firmware.

Updates to the community have been halted because of the sheer confusion that spreads by others who aren't knowledgeable to how firmware is developed. While we're not ignoring requests for information, we're simply waiting to provide any official updates until we have a solid resolution for the firmware problems some are experiencing.

In regards to the lack of website updates... we're actually working on a new site. As all of our artwork and coding is done in house, our resources are currently dedicated towards this new site which is why you are not seeing any of the usual updates to the main website. There are some updates though. We've recently added new products including an all new special edition LowLandLions edition mouse pad and the soon-to-be released special edition Talent WHITE.

I hope this answers your questions. As always, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us at anytime. Thanks!
i know this has been said b4 but i think you forget that the coolermaster spawn which is using this same sensor (A3090) had similar issues when it was first released. it took them 4 months, yes 4 months, to release an update and it's STILL not right @ the 800 setting. jittering/tracking issues reported by multiple people

i've said it before and i'll say it again. i like my valor. i like it better than my xai and i like it wayyyyy better than my EC1. anytime you switch from one mouse to the other you have to get used to the DPI settings.... i got used to the 1000step on the valor the same way i would going to any other new mouse

the firmware update will come. give them time =)

Sadly the Valor is far too big for me. Before selling I've had to make sure it passes QC. Here are the issues missed by Puretrak and how to fix.

1. Left side grip not flush with shell.
Remove grip and re-apply correctly. The glue remains sticky enough. Just don't do it more than a cpl times.
2. Wheel has excessive wobble.
Once opened, a few layers of tape placed under each side of the wheel limits rocking. I don't understand why this gap exists, considering the switches were replaced with a plastic block.
3. Right mouse button rubs on shell
Use sand paper to remove a few mm of plastic on the left edge of right button. You need a screwdriver or something to force the button open. Be careful.
4. Shell has sharp edges due to poor assembly
Simply open mouse and reassemble using correct pressure to create flush edges
5. Right mouse button loose with lots lots of play before click activates
Fixing the shell issue above solves this one.

These two are my biggest gripes. Honestly how can you screw up the buttons on a mouse.. They're one of a mouse's biggest asset.

The build quality on the latest batches are fine, just the firmware update is needed but that will take a while it seems.

This. I've been using mine with my laptop for a couple of months and the build quality is fine.

I feel your pain.

Sent an RMA request 31/08/2011 after receiving mouse 25th August.

Problem: Valor wobbles, no free Talent which was promised.

Got a reply back the same day. Heres what they had to say about the Valor:

"Sadly, we have had several customers as of recently who claim to have issues with their Valor and when it arrives (with us comping shipping)... we find that they have never either a). opened their Valor or b). didn't actually have an issue with their Valor. I am noticing that your Valor was also one that went through our additional quality control checks to ensure the wobble issue did not exist. When you say back and forth, do you mean side to side (left to right) or is it in fact wobbling front to back? Since these added quality control checks have started, we have not had a single report of this wobble so you would be the first "

So after insinuating I was one of these customers trying to return a non faulty Valor I made a video demonstrating the wobble my mouse exhibits:

Also note no spare mouse feet were included with my Valor so can't stack skates as they suggested to me.

And the separate Stealth pad I ordered from them arrived with food/glue or something of that nature on one area of the surface and sides of the pad. In fairness they offered to replace the Stealth after I pointed out to them I wasn't happy with the condition it arrived in, but by this point I had already cleaned the surface so no need.

After this initial response, 18 days have passed. Sent numerous other emails to sales@puretrak.com and nick@pure-voice.net but Puretrak are yet to get back in contact with me.

Awesome service...
