Abyssus has the best sensor imo, but I can't recommend it, due to the high lift-off and polling issues. MX518, G5v2, DA otherwise.

That mouse may not be for you. A lot of what you said was more subjective to each user than the mouse being bad. However there's no excuse for a non functioning sensor and bad build quality when even the bottom of the mouse is uneven.

Can we get short term fixes/guarantees?

Like if we need to peel the feet off to remove burrs to fix the wobble and the feet tear, knowing we can still return the mouse if the acceleration issue can't be fixed.

Can we shave pointy/draggy bits off the bottom of the Valor to keep it from scratching the Talent and still return it? If not, can we return the Talent if the mouse scratches it in normal use?

And, could the original firmware before the dpi levels were changed be posted on the Puretrak website so we can get (what should be) smooth performance at those levels while we wait?

I don't mind working through things, but I don't want to get screwed for doing it compared to people who bail immediately.
Yeah for sure I could wait too, but that's what I'm worried about is the mouse is definitively scratching the mousepad and I don't want that to get ruined especially since I bought the one I'm using.

Razor blade + fine grit sandpaper should do the trick.

The build quality so far is baffling, I mean I bought a way cheaper mouse made by the same OEM and it didn't have any of these issues. They put their C team on the Valor or what?

Mail delivered--no mouse. I'm in Austin, TX.

Damn it Fed Ex need to hurry their asses up.

I needs to compare this to some legit technology like the WMO, not something you'd set on a doily after you'd drunk your tea like the G5.

I'm just curious what others think so far. I like the shape but I don't feel comfortable with sanding the bottom down to make it not scratch the pad in case I want to return it.
post #937 of 1594
The only real issue is the uneven bottom. The acceleration issues can be fixed with a firmware, same way as CM fixed the cm storm spawn.

Concerning CT007 review, its very obvious that he only like the shape of the mx518. I despise the shape of the mx518, yet I don't go around calling it a bad mouse

I sent an email to Puretrak to return the mouse last night, and got a prompt reply, asking me to return both the mouse and the mousepad.

Issue is, I ordered the mouse and pad on the 31st of may, and paid for both of them (I did not receive the free Talent). I emailed Nick back immediately about this and hve gotten no reply back. I'm assuming they are busy, but it would be great to know they see the error there, and don't refuse my return because of a pad I actually bought.

Did you send a Valor to ESEA market yet? I can't wait to watch that fool give it a perfect score despite the obvious flaws.

Well, I would argue that the shape of this mouse is certainly not ergonomic(anti-ergonomic, rather), in respect to the structure of the human hand and CTS prevention. There is a reason why "hybrid" shapes don't work as well as the common/proven shapes(palm, claw, fingertip). It's all or nothing, as I see it; straying from these 3 shape/form factors doesn't work. Perhaps if you have a HUGE thumb and small hands, the Valor will fit you nicely.

For palm grips(as Puretrak advertises the Valor to be), the flatter the mouse buttons are, the less comfortable it will be. The more rounded the buttons are, the more comfortable. Imagine holding a ball. The shape of the MX518 is practically an oblong semi-sphere, leading to the best hand-shaping/gripping of all mice out there. If you're a fingertipper, then you don't want the ball shape, nor the Valor's hybrid shape. I believe it is correct to remove points from this mouse's review score due to the lack of ergonomics, for one.

Someone should start a poll: how comfortable is the Valor?
I would rate:
MX518 = 9.5/10
Abyssus = 9/10
DA = 8/10
Xai = 6/10
Kone[+] = 7/10
G500 = 5/10
G9x = 7/10
IME = 8/10
Valor = 3.5/10

So what if I'm biased/"biased" Tons of people love the MX518 shape too, and for good reason! No need to risk going with some hybrid shape nobody has tried before...
