[toms]Geforce vs Radeon Video quality - Page 2

I'd rather them go all out on Gaming over Movies anyway, why would I want to watch a movie on my 24'' monitor when I can watch a blu-ray on an 80'' tv in my living room.

I have pics SO YES IT DOES HAPPEN.

I usually alternate Nvidia/AMD cards on my rig, and I guess my eyes must suck, because I can't really notice any difference in image quality when playing games at native resolutions. I think they both look the same.

On 2d games where the image has to be stretched to fullscreen the story changes. I've noticed Nvidia likes to almost smudge stretched pixels together, while ATI keeps it kind of blocky. I really don't think either solution is better than the other, though. Mind you I've never really messed around with the drivers on this kind of thing.

Basically don't use Nvidia CUDA for transcoding IQ.
This, don't use GPUs if you go for IQ. SB isn't that slow either.

Unless you are transcoding movies to a small device such as a smartphone, then I doubt you'll see the difference.

Let me say this instead of this Toms hardware junk...

When I had my 5770, playing 720p x264 videos via HDMI to my TV looks great. Now since I got my 460, I see blotches and squares everywhere, same video. That's if I looked really hard, but still annoys me

My onboard Radeon HD4200 has far better picture quality than my gtx 460's. The 460's have high black levels when I connect them to my 42" plasma via HDMI forcing me to calibrate its black levels. Even then the PQ never matches the HD4200! Even worse, I'm getting stutter/dropped frames every 15 min or so.. on my 4200 I get them once every 2 hours! (using reclock btw)

This again...?

I do find it interesting that often times HD flash videos appear much higher quality when processed with my laptop's Intel HD chipset vs. the discrente Nvidia G310M (hybrid graphics).

Is it just me or does Nvidia seem to have better brights and ATi's darks are more crisp.

I don't know if thats possible.. But to my eyes it seems that way.
