i would go either 965 would be better for under $200 and 6950 for about $150 more u will love ur self allot better at the end it blows out th 6850 by a long shot. there isnt no need for u to get a 6 core for the simple fact that the only thing u do is game

I'm actually getting a 6950 not a 6850.

I would go for a 965, but then I would be in 6 core price range.

I am debating on just getting a used 6 core and overclocking it to around 3.5GHZ...

I would totally suggest going for a used 6-core if you can. I got my 1055t when they first came out for $125 after rebate and bing. I think they are amazing chips and obviously they clock extremely well. I just recently have my clocked down to 3.5GHz, with turbo hitting 4.2GHz. Very fun chip!

....and if you're willing to get the 965 you might as well get the 1055T 6-core It is only 10 bucks more....

http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0334812

But really, just decide what your limit is that you can spend, and find what fits best in there. You'll be really happy with either 955/965/1055t. 6 cores is more "future proof"... but in all honesty you'll probably upgrade again before games and apps really start making use of extra cores. You just have to decide if knowing you have that extra power now is worth the $$$ to you or not--and remember you'll get slightly more in resale value as well.

Personally, I would just squander the extra 20 bucks or so on a pizza or something anyways, so I would just buy the 6-core and be happy and call it a day--but that is just me.

Have you tried unlocking your x2 555? I've owned a few and all of mine unlocked fine, that would be better then buying a quad/hexa cpu imo.

I agree about x6 core chip, performance wise it's much better that x4, I've just moved from 965.... I can see the difference, and specially on gaming if plan 6950 nothing will "bottleneck" in your system

I actually did. I was a unlucky one!

I found a used 1055 for 135.00, which is a awesome deal. I may go ahead and jump on that.

But if all else fails I will just go ahead and the a 955. Its more than enough for my needs.
