Asus x58 Sabertooth raid 0 6gb/sec?

hi, i'm a proud owner of the sabertooth...love this board, this is my 2nd build w/ it...this perticular build i went with 2x WD caviar black 6gb/sec HDD...last build i used 2 raptors that were 3gb/sec...anyway, this is my first experience trying to raid 0 w/ the 6gb/sec drives...using the 6gb sata cables...plugged into the 6gb sata 3 ports...doesnt give me a raid option, so i plugged them into the 3gb/sec ports and i raid 0'd them and installed windows and whatnot...my question is...can this MOBO raid on 6gb? if so, how? am i missing a bios setting? i doubt it since i've been through every last bit of it...but this is getting annoying, any help is much appreciated

On the sabertooth there are two controllers. An intel one for the normal sata ports and a marvell controller for the 2 6Gb/s ports. You have to use the marvell controller to implement raid on the 6Gb/s ports. And you also have to install their drivers in order to boot off the array.

gimme a second and ill link you to the directions.

Press control + M to open marvell controller. Look on Page 4-11 of your mobo manual for details.

Look on page 4-15 on how to make a marvell array bootable.

Use the maximum stripe size you can for any raid 0 array. I use 128 on the Intel controller. And yes, you will have to format and delete your partitions and you current raid array.

P.S. watch you sizes for your bootable array if you add more drives.

sorry to interrupt, but i'm also experiencing the same probs I've also tried this set up with 2 X WD blue caviar 500g, suceeded in setting up RAID 0 6Gbps using CTRL + M and BIOS is reading my RAID 0 set up and during windows 7 Ultimate 64bit installation, it says need to install driver "Marvell" which I did with my USB disk but windows failed to install. tried setting AHCI at BIOS, use correct cable and plugged on 6Gbps port but to no avail. Is there anything that I miss? and also I've got another HDD (backup drive) which is plugged on 3Gbps port, do i need to unplugged it? before setting the new drive to RAID 0 on 6Gbps?

your suggestions is highly appreciated biggrin.gif
