Is my Power Supply enough?

Thread Starter
I am thinking about upgrading to a 6870 and was wondering if my Power Supply would be able to handle it? I was using some online psu calculators and some of them came pretty close (480 Watts) and 533 Watts recommended? Should I be fine or should I be purchasing a new Power Supply as well? If I am going to upgrade I am going to do it the right way.

Thanks guys

Yes, enough even with headroom.

Even with all the Haf-X fan and fan controller that I have? Sorry I probably should have mentioned that in the first place. Also my CPU is OC'd to 4.0 at 1.45vcore

You'll be fine, you have a moderate amount of headroom for overclocks too. AMD's GPUs are pretty low power draw.

It's just a 6870.... he could massively overclock and still be below 400WDC.

@OP Ignore PSU calculators, you're fine.

The calculators are generally very conservative in their estimates. They have to figure in all the people who buy the dirt cheap junk PSU's as well that list their peak power as the rating of the unit.

The Antec Neo should be fine for your rig, it is a good unit

ps, nice rig too.

6870 is a 150w GPU. Based on what you have, you are looking at 420w max so Antec neo unit should be fine for now.
