In the first one, a big part of the tension came from seeing a little girl in a red dress blowing stuff up and vaporizing hardened soldiers, and knowing that she could be waiting for you around the next corner (or OMG RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!!). In part 2, the enemies were dumbed down, Alma was never a threat, and several points in the game felt like I had enabled a godmode cheat. In short, it wasn't scary. It had a few jumpy moments, but it wasn't a relentless nerve wracking experience like the first. I still enjoyed it, but it didn't really feel much like FEAR, other than having a few of the same characters/locations. At this point, I don't have a lot to go on, but I'm guessing from the screenshots/videos I have seen that FEAR 3 is going to be more like part 2 than the original. I'll buy it, play it, and probably enjoy it, but I'll still have a nagging feeling of disappointment because I want it to be just like the original.
This! Exactly how I feel. F.E.A.R is one of my favourite FPS games, I did like part 2 but not even half as much. I hope 3 will be like the 1st.
