my buddy has a 570 and ive got a 4890 and if you look you can defently see the difference between dx9 and dx11.
Well, frankly I'm comparing dx10 and dx11 but I don't think dx11 is worth the money right now

Honestly I do not see the point of this thread because it seems the OP has already made the decision long time ago that DX11 is not worth it. All posts that are DX11 proponent are being disagreed by OP himself.

Good luck with the cards you have - I am sure they will serve you well - and maybe a token of thanks to all those that holds a crystal ball to mention about something that is in such distant future.

Do people even play metro because it's an enjoyable game or just cause it's one of the few games that play on dx11? I saw the review on GT, it didn't look like a bad game but it doesn't look as amazing as fallout 3 was, if it's fair to compare those two.

I find that funny because my 6850 by itself never drops below 30fps on metro 2033 with maxed out settings...For the price I paid for my card that's damn good. I think jumping to DX 11 is worth all the money. Especially for the price of a 6850.

I apologize for that, I was comparing it to the 5870, I was trying to make a point that going from dx10 to dx11 decreases framerates

I think the bottom line on DX11 is obviously subjective to the user playing his/her games, however, I think there is a more important broad look on it for people trying to 'get in' on it now. Namely:

It hasn't been implemented enough in games that would use it to the extent (I feel) it was intended for. Perhaps some of the newer games released this year will make better use of it's abilities, but as of right now there is no real implementation of it other than a few fragments per game.

Dirt 2: Lighting/Shadows/Curvature of framing
BFBC2: Only implementing 'soft' shadows (no shadow jaggies as opposed to DX10 and 9)
Metro 2033: Mostly notable curvature of characters and a few lighting/shadow components

There are other games, but that's just an example. There are some components of DX10/10.1 that have yet to be fully 'utilized' in games now too. And even for DX10.1 with near full-immersion you would still need very high end cards to even make those games playable.

I just don't see why people are rushing to buy dx11 cards now when barely any games even support dx11, and when there are more mainstream dx11 games the cards they have now would just be outdated. I mean within the last 6 or so months they already went through 2 generations of cards on both ends and are moving into the third. It's ridiculous.

the gtx 560 isnt that expensive, and should handle any game out there at very respectable settings. its like a pinch behind the 570 in most games. im thinking about pikcing one up to replace my 275...
