whats a safe proper way to clean the laser on the bottom of the mouse?

i've seen some take a qtip and dab a bit alcohol and start wiping around the optical sensors, is this safe?

I personally don't see an issue using 70% isopropyl alcohol to clean the top and bottom of the mouse, but...that clear plastic lens over the sensor I question. I've seen what alcohol can do to clear plastic and plastic in general, creating this hazy film on the surface which is basically surface damage. But, this occurred with heavy use of alcohol (leaving a puddle to sit, or 90-91% isopropyl used.)

But me personally, I use Lysol spray on a microfiber cloth to clean my gadgets. If I need to clean the sensor lens, just a dry Q-tip does the job.

A laser mouse, doesn't usually have a lens cover that I've seen....just don't get fluid in there....if you can even get a Q-tip to fit in the hole.
