Can you run a GTX460 and GTX275 together?

Thread Starter
I have an HX1000 PSU so no issues.
I have a motherboard that intheory does upto 3 SLI.

stupid question:
Can I put a GTX460 and GTX275 together in this machine and run two monitors (one off each card? i.e. a 2560x1600 on the 460 and a 1920x1200 on the 275.

second stupid question:
can miss matched cards be SLI'd together? Can you SLI a 460 and a 275 or do both cards need to be the same?

thanks in advance.

No you cannot SLI, yes you can run them separately in the same system and use multiple monitors on each.

Impossible to SLI a card that's not the same type. But you can use your GTX 275 for Physx.

True but what a waste of a decent card/power/heat. I would favor flogging them both off on ebay or whatever and buying a GTX570 especially if that is not the 1gb version of 460. Might have to add a little more cash but far more beneficial.

Is a single GTX570 capable of running a 2560x1600 AND a 1920x1200 monitor at the same time?

yes even my 460 can run them..
Yes, you can use both cards. Yes, you can connect one display per card. This is EXACTLY how my rig is setup. No you CANNOT SLI them, as they are different GPU's.

I prefer having 2 cards to power both displays personally. If using one card for two screens, your card will NOT downclock and undervolt in 2D. It stays in your 3D clocks / voltages 24/7. So the card runs hotter at idle.

Thanks gents! Perhaps my best bang for the buck might be to grab a 460 for the 2560x1600 and use my GTX275 for the 1200x1900 (I run it vertically).

cheers.
