Lg Optimus V is epic - Page 2

Bump, I just ordered this to start a VM $25 plan as an alternative to my current AT&T plan. How are you liking the phone? I've read that it's more of a low-to-mid range Android phone, and it is lacking some features.

I did read that while data tethering through wifi isn't enabled out-of-the-box, you can actually download an app that will let you enable it. Has anyone tried this? And to what success?

I'm hoping that the phone isn't terribad, and that VM service in most places I typically go is decent, so I can be rid of AT&T and their lame expensive (and mandatory) charges for data plans on "smartphone" devices.

I have a G2, but this is really the phone I was waiting for since Android was announced. Cheap price, but not cheap phone and reasonable voice+data pricing.

Anyone notice the price of the optimus went from $150 to like $230? Kind of funny.

Wow, on the VM USA website, it's now at $199 rather than the previous $149. I know this thing can't stay on the shelves around where I am. All of the Radio Shacks are always sold out. I did see it at my local Target, still for $149. I ordered mine on bestbuy.com, and after taxes and shipping, it was about $200.

To be honest, while I haven't found a thing about this phone I don't like yet, I think it's a hard sell for nearly $250. I still like it, but you can get better phones for that price--maybe not for VM...this phone is the best you can get so far, I think... Still loving it though!

You might be able to get a better phone for 200 but you have to factor in the monthly charge as well which is far lower than anything else on virgin mobile.

Ah, yes, absolutely agreed--that's what I meant, but didn't say. IMHO, nothing can replace being free of AT&T, where I was paying a monthly out-the-door bill of $50/month for just voice (including fees and taxes, of course). Now I get free data and texts for literally half of that. In a year you can buy a better phone (or a netbook, lol) with the amount being saved.
