Persistent Lock-Ups Driving Me Crazy

Thread Starter
With my sig rig I am having freezing issues that seem to have been happening more and more frequently.
I seems to only happen in certain situations though, mainly when I am either downloading something or watching an HD youtube video.

I opened up the windows 7 resource monitor and started up an HD youtube vid and waited to see what would happen.
It would generally kind of spike around with the disk I/O between 0 and 10 MB/s and the disk activity would stay between 0 and 15%.
But then all of the sudden disk I/O dropped to 0MB/s and activity shot up to 100% and it stayed like this for about 20sec or so before finally locking up.

The thing is, I can game for hours on end and never get a single freeze but then I open youtube to watch something real quick and end up having to reboot.

I made a similar thread to this a while back and was told to switch sata ports and change the cable which at the time I had though fixed it. Then when it started freezing again I realized I didn't have the nforce sata/ethernet drivers installed and installed them to no avail.

I am trying to figure out a way to fix this before resorting to buying a new mobo or RMA'ing my hdd.

Any help is appreciated.

Are you currently using any firewall software? If not try one out, any decent free one will do? If I am on the right track, this will be your solution.
Plus, disable hardware acceleration for flash.
