Overclock Sandy bridge not working?

Thread Starter
So, I'm trying to OC my turbo boost to 4.8Ghz or more, however I am a complete noob at overclocking (first time builder here).

I followed this guide, and I managed to get to 4.5Ghz turbo mode running stable with prime95 at about 64 degrees Celsius.

I clocked up to 4.8Ghz and I couldn't boot, so I reset my CMOS. Now, I am unable to clock to 4.5Ghz without it crashing.

Does anyone know why it won't run properly at 4.8? I believe my cooling system is good enough, but I think I'm having problems with the voltage settings possibly.

Does anyone have any other guides? That guide I linked was perfect as it uses the same mobo that I have, however I can't seem to clock at 4.8.

Any suggestions

Did you raise the VCore for the CPU? Try setting it to like 1.4v and see if it boots.

Try 4.7 then and work your way up. Also note that guide is using a D1 Stepping CPU, the D2 stepping we have are known to clock with lower voltage.

The mobo automatically set the Vcore to 1.4, but it didn't boot so I tried what the guide said: 1.450v

Any suggestions for the voltage?

Nope, it's about average for a 4.8GHz on Sandybridge. Ideal and Amazing are 1.35v or below.

I'd prefer 1.3V.
If I had sandybridge I wouldn't even run it over 4ghz. absolutely no need for that lol other then bragging rights.

That's what speedstep is for So I don't have to run 4.8GHz 24/7
