Do these DDR3 match?

Thread Starter

I want to upgrade my AMD board from 4GB to 8GB RAM, and I'm having trouble finding a matching pair of 2x2GB DDR3 sticks. CPU-Z identifies my current RAM as Part No. CM3X2G1333C9 (Corsair XMS3), but the closest match I can find for sale online is Part No. TW3X4G1333C9A. They both look identical, and according to CPU-Z, the latency timings, stock voltage, and stock frequency of the former match that of the latter.

For reference,

is what my current RAM looks like. After doing a search for CM3X2G1333C9, I get "Corsair Platinum Series", which isn't what is in my tower. Is CPU-Z reliable as far as identifying RAM?

As I said, that's the "Platinum Series", which doesn't match what's in my box. I honestly don't think CPU-Z is reading my RAM correctly. Mine looks more like the blue ones, with the black heat sink thing on top, as shown on the Amazon page.

Also, I just now noticed there's an AMD Memory board. I kinda thought RAM would be covered in the Components sub-forum, so I posted here. If an Admin feels this thread needs to be moved, I think it does too.

Any generic 1333 CL9 memory will match. It doesn't matter at all what brand, as long as it has the same speed, timings, voltage or better, or even if it doesn't have any heatsinks. ANYTHING will work fine with that RAM.

Therefore you should be going with the cheapest possible kit. And the cheapest possible kit is...
Kingston HyperX Blu 1600 CL9 - $50, $35 AR
Oh what do you know, it's better than generics for cheaper

Are you positive about this? I was under the impression that AMD boards were extremely finicky about their RAM, and all four sticks had to match.
