Man, what perfect timing, as I'm building a friend a $600, budget gaming rig in a couple days. Sweet.

Same could be said about most electronics. When the i7 950 came out it was $560 and now it is on newegg for $290 and microcenter for $230

Oooops I did not read all the posts and did not see how someone said the exact same thing. Feel free to delete.

Again. Why would you buy an i7-950 when at the time, the cheaper i7-920 can be overclocked to match and or surpass it.

Good for AMD.
I have to say their prices are hard to beat...

resale value always takes a hit when a new processor architecture comes out... this isn't usually reflected too drastically in retail channels (which is why C2Q cpus are IMO stupidly expensive right now) It also depends on perceived value...

and perceived value is highly subjective

personally I would be interested in a new proc... but only if i could drop it into a AM3+ mobo which i cant - sad times

im mainly upset that is emptied my poor ass 15 year old unemployed wallet for this beastly mobo to find out that BD is only AM3+ compatible.

why cant they make at least one AM3 CPU?
if they did it with 940 they could do it wtih BD...but the new architecture with the 2 threads per module might complicate things :/

****! i guess i'll be forced to sell my mobo to pay for part of the price of a Crosshair V Formula
bye bye wallet. time to start begging parents.

You know you can buy an AM3 processor now and drop it into an AM3+ mobo, just not the other way around.

Now that prices have gone down, do you guys think it's a good buy to get the 955 to replace my 445? I'm thinking of it but I don't know if it would be that drastic of an upgrade.
