EVGA 285 RMA Replacement

I RMA'd my GTX 285 SC this week and they've shipped out the replacement, but the new card's part number is 01G-P3-1470-AR. I've looked around EVGA's site and can't find that particular part number. There's a 012-P3-1470-AR, which would be a GTX 470, and numerous cards beginning in "01G".

Just curious if anyone knows which card this is? I know a 470 (assuming it even is) isn't a huge improvement over a 285, but that still seems like a bit of a step up for an RMA. I suppose if they didn't have anything else at the time though?

that's a major step up actually if it's a 470

Hmm, I thought the 285 and 470 were pretty close. Then again I've been out of the loop since before Fermi cards were even released.

Sent an email to EVGA but it usually takes a day or two for a response, so I figured I'd ask around.

Sounds like excellent customer service to me. They probably have subtle product number changes for certain RMA's so it's easier for them to track things internally.

That I did not know. After countless headaches with a handful of manufacturers and companies I've pretty much written off phone calls for this sort of thing.

But I suppose I can give 'em a call tomorrow.

The fact that they're replacing it at all is pretty amazing. There were somewhat clear signs of "water" damage after the cat threw up into the PC case while I was at work. Took just about the entire sig rig down and I wasn't expecting anything from the various RMA's I have going right now.

Don't have any, sorry. I thought about it afterward, but at the time I had just gotten back from Chicago (where I just lost my wallet) and it wasn't on my mind.

It wasn't much, probably a hairball, but there was a burnt pool of spit, cat food and hair on the top of the 285. I tested it in the brother's PC for fun and whenever the card heated up it smelled like cat food. Had a good time imagining what the guys at EVGA would think if they tested the card.
