GTS-450 Opinions?

Would this graphics card be good with these components?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130572

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz

PQI TURBO 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit

Dont know mother board brand, but its socket AM3...Buying it from a friend and only supports DDR2.
As of now it only has a Dual-Core AMD @ 3.1GHZ and Integrated ATI HD 4500, a 1 x 2GB stick of generic ram, 500GB 7200 rpm hard drive, pci 2.0, all in one memory card reader, CD/DVD RW disk drive, 550W NZT PSU, Cooler Master case. I plan to add the GTS-450 GPU , the ram and cpu mentioned above to this system.

It also comes with a 19" flat screen monitor and Windows 7 Ultimate. Minus the ram, cpu, he only wants $320 for it. With the gpu, ram, and cpu i plan to order from newegg.com and add the total cost comes to $711.86.

With this system could i play cod mwf2 and black ops maxed at say 1400x900 resolution? And crysis maxed?

Overall good system for the price?

Thanks, and +rep for advice.

First question, What is your GPU budget??
To answer your question, no its not going to "max crysis" , even at that resolution. It will run tho..
A GTX 460 is a better choice if you can afford it..
Hell try to find a used gtx 470 maybe??

Using 2 GTS450's in SLi I play Black Ops maxed at 1920x1200. I'm sure with one you'd be able to play at 1440x900 maxed. Crysis I am unsure of. With 2 SLi for sure though. They are really nice cards, I have 2 Asus branded ones and they are super quiet and keep cool too. I would go for it if I were you.

Ya $750 was budget. Cant afford a better psu for a GTX-460.

Would mean more money for the 460 and more money for a better psu, also the mobo isnt sli and i dont have more money to buy a sli board.

Ohh ok. Well you could still play most games maxed out with just one at 1440x900. Crysis not likely though.

Sold my sig rig some time ago. Time for a new one and this will take a good chunk out of my tax return. Despite my name ive never owned a AMD CPU so im skeptical but will give them a try.

I too have experienced these cards in SLI and I was maxing out BFBC2 at the same resolution. I think they are awesome.

To answer your question:

Yes it will play any COD game maxed.

No it wont play Crysis maxed. It will run DX9 maxed but not DX10. The GTS 450, is basically equivalent to a 192 SP GTX 260, which is considered by today's standard a mid end card. It can run most games at the highest quality except for the following:

1. GTAIV
2. Crysis
3. Metro 2033
4. Mafia 2
5. Empire:Total War
6. Just Cause 2

There are other games as well, but the GTS 450 is a good card if you get it around 80 dollars. I have one and it runs very well on most of the games that I play.

The 955 is a great CPU. You will be very happy with the price/performance it gives you.
