By settings he means game settings. Things like AA will kill your frame rate.

using latest drivers and hotfixes? the 16x~4x shouldnt impose that much of a hit, maybe 20% when bad? try ocing your proc and see if it is just a cpu limit because of the game. also try ocing the nb, it is supposed to help.

you have a x16 slot on top (slot 1) and x4 slot on bottom (slot 2)

you are not running your 2nd card to the fullest power. Explains a bit about the performance issue but there is probably a lot of other things...

GTA4 is a horrible game anyway (optimization is nonexistent)... as for crysis, you might just be hitting a bottleneck with your cpu. Also, 5770s arent really that beefy of a card. Maybe you have supersamplingAA turned on?

Its not a PCI bandwidth issue. 90% Of the time its driver related. Tell us the settings your trying to play at. That would help tremendously.

You won't see a 20% hit from 16/4 with 5770's. Also try overclocking your ram some or make sure its running to spec(not under clocked by default). That way you have more bandwidth. I had to that too when I got my 5770.

ok I lowered my settings in crysis warhead to 1024x768 with AA off and got a whopping 40fps, once and a while it would hit 45ish. I did notice that it said mem = 1114 when I actually have 2gb video mem

5770's have a fair amount of power considering they are mid grade cards.

I have heard that having higher setting on should (in theory) put more stress on the video cards and create a more even balance of power. With the video cards working hard they won't be chewing through the game as fast and catching up on the proc.

Now I have no proof for this so I may just be blow hot air. Sorry if I'm wrong and will stand corrected if someone has proof that is isn't true.

But I agree that I think it is driver/setting based versus a hardware issue.

when you crossfire, you don't combine the video memory. the cards just use 1 set of vram and just combine their gpu strengths.

40 fps is pretty low for crossfired 5770s at that resolution...

That res is extremely low lol. Try 1920 x 1080 everything set to very high or enthusiast with no aa. Then go from there.
