LGA 775: C2D to C2Q in BC2

Thread Starter
Just wondering how big of a difference people noticed upgrading from a C2D to a C2D in Bad Company 2 multiplayer?

I'm still trying to hold off upgrading my system until X68 / LGA 2011 comes out and want to try to get the most out of what I have now by upgrading to a C2Q (Q9550 or Q9650).

Thanks.

Unfortunately, it's cheaper to buy an AM2/AM3 motherboard and 955 quad than it is just to buy a Q9550 or Q9650. Selling your old cpu and motherboard would recoup over half the cost and the upgrade would cost you very little. I wish I could just plunk in 3 Q9550s as an upgrade, but it just doesn't make sense in the US. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Well obviously I've thought of that. I'd be looking at a used Q9550 or Q9650. No way in hell I'm buying one new for 300+ lol.

q9550 is like $270.. and you can wait for Microcenter to put them back up for 180 again, haha.

They sell for $200 used, though. For that price you can buy a 955 and motherboard. Selling your old cpu and motherboard makes the swap nearly free. My entire swap cost me $40 and that was including moving from DDR2 to DDR3, E6750, and mb to my AM3 quad on comp1.

I'll be honest man. I'm too lazy to reinstall Windows 7, all my video and photo editing programs, 30+ GB of games, transfer files etc etc. I just need a quick fix, I don't have the time right now to do all that. So a Q9550/Q9650 should tide me over until LGA 2011 comes out.

Do you have any before and after numbers from the swap?
