Bad Company 2, some other FPS, BF3 when it comes out, ditto for Guild Wars 2. I also play RTS/sim type games. Like I said I'm kind of worried about the size of enemies with a 1600p and not being able to see them easily.

Trust me, the screen is big enough you'll see them.

Everyone is pretty much saying the same thing. Go for it!

Would you be able to return it if you didn't like it though?

I have no idea. But they do have incredible resale value though.

If I had $1200 to spend, I'd spend less-

Vizio 37" 1080p 8ms* 120Hz LED-LCD HDTV XVT373SV $899

Samsung 32" Class (31.5" Diag.) 1080p 5ms** 120Hz LED-LCD HDTV UN32C6500VFXZA $999

These are at Newegg!

I think 32" is as big as it should get when buying 1080p panels/monitors.

*Specs from cnet

**Specs from Samsung

I already have a 1080p 42" plasma. Got it at newegg for $530. It's great for movies, youtube, and occasional gaming. But yeah, 1080p to 1600p is probably double the resolution, if not more. And if it were a 120hz 30" IPS for $1125 I wouldn't have even thought twice about it.

Unlike the rest of the PC, monitors are a nice investment because you can use the same one for around 8-10 years. They don't go obsolete overnight like everything else does - when newer models come out, they don't make the image on the one you own any worse. So as long as you can afford it I think it's one of the best purchases you can make.

And honestly, most people making the jump to 30" start out in the same boat as you, worrying whether or not it's worth the price. Myself included when I first did it. But once you put it on your desk and turn it on it becomes a whole different ballgame.

Dell 30" has an OSD.... it's circuitry cause input lag.
Besides input lag you can't actually see the difference between the two, even side by side. The choice is really about everything else - less input lag on the HP, vs lots of control + features + inputs + warranty on the Dell.
