Don't some ISP's have a 'pool' of bandwidth that they allow a dedicated area that is all shared.. So if you are the only on in your area online then you get ridiculously fast speeds.. and vice versa where if everyone is on then OCN takes 29min to load?
testmy.net about 5mbps on the 50MB download test
and speakeasy averages about 7 mbps
I don't see howthat could be below 50% of the average. :?
this is the result of the combined download and upload speed test:
Download :: 6459 Kbps or 6.46 Mbps (807 kB/s)
Upload :: 1772 Kbps or 1.8 Mbps (222 kB/s)
"Your line may literally be on fire!! 722% of your hosts average! I'm not worthy..."
i have found speedtest.net to not always be quite accurate.
try testmy.net
this site gave me much more accurate numbers
I think that is because it measures different sizes of downloads. It takes even a few seconds for a small 512kb download, which means a very slow download speed. I guess this is better, because when i download large files, i end up with like 6-8 mb/s, not the 70~ on Speedtest.
Test from somewhere like ubuntu.com or from steam. It's a more accurate real world test as some US ISPs give you a speed boost that fools speedtest.net.
that's on my laptop though, wired speeds aren't much faster.
