off topic: well, if you dont know what this new world order or globalisation is all about, then let me put it for ya: Chinese are taking over....commies are coming back...get used to it. USA owes so much to China, that americans (and rest of the world is slowly getting to it) are literally working for 'em.....That is why they are spending so much on army (china). Resistance is futile.

Basically, I ordered some watercooling equipment from Aquatuning in Germany, and they shipped it to me in norway. the price was 466€ total. now, about 3 weeks later I get a Bill from UPS regarding VAT, and the price is 134€?!

I called them and they said it was VAT for import to country outside of EU countries, but isnt VAT only for import to countries who are members of EU?
Norway is not...
It's probably already answered, but I thought I'd toss my words in as well since I've actually ordered from aquatuning and shipped to Norway recently.

25% VAT (mva, eller moms om du vil) is paid to the Norwegian government. Regardless. There are a few exceptions, like books.

There is additional Tax (Toll) on some stuff, to protect the inner Norwegian markets, such as clothes, alcohol and farm products etc. Toll and VAT are not the same. Toll is all extra, on top of the VAT.

Ordering from Germany you'll save german VAT 19.5%, but you'll have to pay the 25% Norwegian VAT once it goes through customs (in norway). There's no way around this unless you travel and pick it up yourself at aquatuning. Though, you'd be smuggling the stuff back into norway, and it may be a problem for aquatuning to sell you the stuff without the german vat, since they have to declare it.

In extremely rare cases Norwegian customs will miss a package, and you'll save the VAT. But don't rely on it. They are meticulous.

So, to sum up. Orderiung from aquatuning:
- you'll save 19.5% german VAT.
- you'll have to pay 25% norwegian VAT.
- whoever handles the package may charge a handling fee. There will be VAT on top of the handling fee.
- If it is handled by the norwegian postal system they will charge approx NOK 150,- in handling fee + charge you the VAT. Which will arrive in you're mail (like paper mail) a few days/weeks later.

Most are just to stupid to check prices outside of their local shop to realize. You guy's think computer parts are expensive in Norway? Try buying flooring, or remodeling a house. Flooring is easily 50% off, even after shipping + 25% VAT if people would just look to our closest neighbors. that's like a 100k saved on a dining/living room.

Chinese will never take over until they increase the lifestyle of its people. No nation with an oppressed population ever succeeds in that manner. Take russia for example during the cold war. Eventually it will fizzle unless it starts to look at its internal problems.

China has purchased U.S. treasury bonds which the U.S. Govt does not have to pay back if asked. It is a gamble that China is willing to take. They aren't actually loaning the U.S. any money, but buying debt in hopes that It will make its money back later. Until China has aircraft carriers it will never take over anything. It got its but whooped by Japan some years back if I do remember correctly which had 1/10 the population. The thing that sucks for China is that money doesn't actually exist. It is just a promise of one government that the piece of paper or metal is worth X amount of goods or services. Look at zimbabwe's situation... it just defunct its currency not too long ago and everything is "fine" now. By the time anything comes of China I will be dead an carefree. In the mean time I will enjoy my big cars, big homes, big food, and big women
