Static shocked my laptop now my AC adapter doesn't work...

I shocked it trying to move it, and I hear the beep sound, the sound when you unplug the laptop and the screen dims.

Now its running off battery and eventually the battery will run out, so it seems I maybe fried something, either I fried something in the laptop or I fried the AC Adapter how do I found out what broke?

Buy a new adapter or use a multimeter on the ac adapter when its plugged in? My guess is its the adapter, worst case scenario you buy a new one, and find out the issue is with your battery/laptop and you have to return the adapter.

I doubt the adapter would be damaged by a small static shock...where were you touching it? You would need to have been touching an exposed metal surface...and if you have breaks in the plastic coating then it is time for a new one if it works or not!

More likely then not, what might have happened is that you blew the fuse on the the ac/in plug, as far as i know most mainboards have a fuse there to prevent freak current from frying the hardware. Check the fuse, switch it out, if you can.

I was picking it up so grabbed it up the top lip of the screen which is plastic, the laptop still works its running under battery for however long that works.

How do I check the fuse?

Also I am going to buy a new AC Adapter whenever Fry's opens and check it out.

So what I found out today is that if you are not grounded and shock your laptop it blows your AC Adapter.

I took my laptop to Frys today and went to there technical support section and they plugged in universal AC Adapter into my laptop and voila! It worked.
