Basically, drive sweeper is a program designed to remove trace/residuals of previous driver installations. These can cause the new driver to have issues, not always, but in some case with big switches from one card gen to another.

A lot of people here do it with every driver update they do in order to prevent any issues and hours of banging their head on the keyboard. It helps remove the things the manual uninstall or automated driver removal (From nvidia or ATI) miss when they say "Clean install".

I do this especially with any beta drivers I am testing to fine tune my gaming issues.

I know that. That's what i've been saying to the OP. And then Gouki comes, says one thing, problem solved. Hence, "I have no Idea what you just did man"

thats awsum.... cpu on these games always 99% loaded and gpu ... 80%~ . I suppose that is CPU bottleneck? (after driver sweeper same stuttering)

i was just trying to help the op and just stated what i do when new or beta drivers come along i totally agree with you on your post on page one.

i was just stating the op shouldnt need to reinstall his os cause of stuttering on a game 99% of game stuttering is gpu driver related..

as the op has still got the issue it could point to power issue or possible the gpu isnt sitting correctly in the pci/e lane or another possibilty is he may have a bricked card.

ive only ever had 1 card bricked from retail i.e took out of the box installed and it artifaced all over the place and kept crashing window's i took it back to the shop swapped it for another and it worked 1st time...

was you running the gpu overclocked?? did you test the overclock using furmark etc??

some gpus dont like overclocking at all one of my 580gtx's which both are the same ssc versions wont overclock at all anychange to it makes the whole system hard lockup... so i keep them both at stock saves issues..

Having of run GTS 450's for some time now, I cant really say one way or the other as to how you experienced a loss in fps by overclocking... that said, I did have some issues at one point were I had OC'd a little too far (in this example), and subsequent benches were really poor. Rebooted, and all was right with the world again. As far as card power... I had bigger fps gains with oc'n the cpu tic per tic than I did with the gpu oc' with a combination working out the best overall.

Moral of the story, bench it, test it, set it, no crashes, forget it.

Call it a fluke but I also noticed that my cards tend to perform better under QSAA rather than MSAA, it had been my understanding that QSAA was 3:5 to MSAA, but I always assumed 3 to 3 was still 3, the only gain being a suedo 5x MSAA comparable to 3x at a 3x processing cost understanding that it could blur some.

Resolution and texture sizes will also have an impact as well, interestingly I found that the performance hit between a 4:3 res and going 1080p was nominal (at least under SLi), bringing up another point, it is worth your time if you only plan to single monitor to SLi the card with another one. Its not 2x performance, but in many cases easily a 85-90% improvement across the board.

Maybe I missed it, but what are you using to OC, and are you into voltages yet?
