Onkyo Speakers

Thread Starter
Does anyone have any level of experience with this Brand of Speakers?

I have decided to go with Onkyo for my audio needs because the performance you get for the price from them is incredible.

I have a $40 Coupon from Tiger Direct so I will include it in the prices.

Here are the 5 options that I am looking at:

(If you can, please explain the major differences in the speakers and receivers. I'm new to quality audio so I would definitely like to learn and understand why each is a good or bad choice.)

Onkyo HT-S7300 for $489

Onkyo HT-S6300 for $459

With these next 3 options, I will have to buy a receiver since they are just the speaker systems which will add ~ $200 to the Price.

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-SKS-HT870-Theater-Speaker-System/dp/tech-data/B002C73WRW/ref=de_a_smtd"]Onkyo SKS-HT870 for $299[/ame]

(I can still use the $40 Coupon on the Receiver from Tiger Direct if I go with these.)

Onkyo SKS-HT750 for $229

Onkyo SKS-HT540 for $179

What is the best option in all of these? Obviously, the last option will be ~ $100 or so cheaper than the rest but is the quality equal? I've read a lot of reviews that said the speakers in the complete HTIB Systems are weaker than the speakers by themselves (even though they look similar) so would it be better to buy one of the speaker systems and a receiver separately.

As far as the $179 Speaker System vs. the $229 System, the cheaper seems to have better specs between the two, if that matters in audio. The speakers are larger and heavier, the sub is heavier and more powerful, and the overall output of the system is 20w higher. So, why is it cheaper? confused.gif I'm not sure how the $299 set would compare. It looks like it is basically identical to the $229 set, only with floor standing front speakers instead of bookshelves.

I desperately need help with this as I am completely lost and I've been trying to make up my mind for around a week now and it is driving me insane. frown.gif lol

Thank You so much for the help!

I don't know if the same holds true now, but Polk used to make the speakers for Onkyo's HTIB systems.

I currently use ONKYO HTS9100THX for my PC, and though I'm about to replace it, I was happy with my purchase. I am unaware of who makes the speakers for it, but I'm pretty sure they don't do it in house.

Good luck with your purchase.
