why order something you know you WILL have to RMA sometime in the future?

and if he went 2600k, he would have to downgrade other components to fit in the $1k price range

I initially wanted to do a 2500k build, but like I said, they were all pulled from egg and mc.

This way I go with a lesser cpu and mobo but with a much better cooler and gpu.

Besides, keeping the hardware the same, how much of a difference would I see in gaming if I got a 2500k over what I have now?

from what I hear, not a whole lot.

So, after taking some of the posts in this thread in to consideration and doing some reading, I made some changes.

Biggest changes made:
went with a Silver Arrow vs a Noctua NH-D14 (mainly because MC didnt have the noctua)
swapped the GPU to a 560 GTX to make some money room for a SSD
added a cricial 64gb SSD drive
changed the memory to crucial bs mushkin... a "sidegrade" again, mc dosnt have mushkins
upgraded the PSU to a 750W modular from a 550, little more future proof

and the big one...

Changed the Mobo to a Asus Crosshair iv formula

I couldnt resist, right now MC has a bundle deal going on where I got the mobo for only 160 bucks!

Comments?

Home gaming PC doesnt really need an SSD.

You could get a better GPU and actually see benefits in game, load times arent that important really IMO if you have a tightish budget.

CRosshair iv formula is an awesome boatd. Might I suggest a 6850 instead of the 560? The asus is crossfire, not sli(without hack) and if u future proofed in the psu, im guessing u plan on upgrading/adding another gpu down the line.

I do, but.... the 560 is temporary, as in... about a month.

I figure the 560 will retain its value and I can sell it a month down the road for a ~30 dollar loss.

With the 560 officially out however, ati has announced that they will be dropping the prices on the 6950 (which I initially wanted) to about 260 bucks. I figure about 4 weeks down the road, sell the 560 for 220 and add another 300 out of pocket and get 6950's in a xfire configuration

I thought all of it out. Plus with the decrease in the prices vs what they are at now, I will not really be losing any money, but will have a GPU to hold me over until the time of greatness comes

Also, just put the order in at Micro Center so it's all official!!! WOOT!!!!
I will be going in to pick the parts up either tomorrow, or saturday depending on how the weather and ice pans out down here.

Man I really wanted that chipset. I opted for the 890GX because of the price. Who knows, maybe one day I'll get one. $160 is a steal.

What I was thinking too...
And the CPU itself was on sale for 20 under newegg right now as well, so I got the Mobo and CPU for just over 300 bucks. I couldnt pass it up.
