No disrespect to the Dead Space series... If you really want a scare, go play Amnesia:The Dark Descent.

This will explain everything.

Heh. I love yahtzee. Simply because I share his opinion that Silent Hill 2 was one of the best video games ever made. Gamespot gave it a 7.7 btw. Sigh

Here's another video that further backs up what makes a scary game scary. Or more generally, that its not graphics that makes great games:

i though it was freaking scary, about the same level scary as amnesia. I've gone through the entire game so far with my gun drawn the entire time. I think music is the scaryissst part about the game, i hate really hate that string noise always playing. Its start normal then gets higher and higher and higher and higer, creates so much suspense. Great game
post #16 of 23
I ALWAYS turn the music off, in EVERY game that I play, because you never hear music in real life. Perhaps I should play through again with the music on...

I thought it was awesome. I found it scarier than amnesia. Amnesia wasn't scary at all. You couldn't die, only darkness will make u see worms :S

George Lucas once stated that music is half the experience, so by that ideology youve effectively turned off half the experience.

I hope you still enjoy the game though

EDIT: I apologize for the double post
