Which MB manufacturers Bios boots the quickest?

Hi,

Having recently upgraded from Asus Maximus Extreme x38 (latest bios) to Gigabyte X58 UD7 Rev 2 (FC bios)- noticed its boots a slower than my Asus ( yes i have check all the settings I can think of in regards to Bios load times)

1) Quick boot enabled
2) ACHI mode also have tried IDE.
3) First boot HDD - Raid 0 SSDs
4) Disabled the sata3 controller (issue with intel SSDs latest firmware resolves this -still on previous firmware.
5) also disabled any items im not using i.e. onboard sound - Esata etc.

I had the PC connected via KVM switch on both.

Questions:
1) Which motherboard manufacturer produces the fastest loading Bios?
2) These new GUI Bios (efi etc) but how much quicker do they really boot compared to older Bios?

I have only had experience with Abit, Asus and Gigabyte now. (got to say the Abit was quicker than the Asus but the Abit did not have much in terms of safety features).

Probably varies more with the motherboard than with the bios maker. A more basic board will more than likely boot faster than a motherboard with all the bells and whistles since there are less devices to search for, less stuff to occur during the POST, etc.

If you have a secondary (Marvell) SATA controller on board, disable it for faster boot times.

Thanks i have disabled the 2nd sata controller.

I guess it also depends on what it checks it the posting screen ie smart hdd check and type of bios firmware as some revision boot quicker than others.

On my test with the abit x38 Vs asus x38 same setup and ram the abit booted like 10sec quicker on the post screen. I wonder how much faster are these new GUI bios interfaces?

I can give you my boot time tonight on my P6P67 Pro if you want. Are you counting from power on to windows login?

I had an AsRock board for my X2 7750 BE that booted in about 8 seconds from power on to login. It was called instaboot and said it would be as fast as 4 seconds. Board died after 2 months though. Also got progressively slower as I added programs.
