Lian Li PC-70-USB fan failure

One of the back fans on my Lian Li PC-70-USB case is no longer turning. From what I can see the electrical connection is fine but the fan blades are just not moving around the rotor. I have tried to squirt some 3-in-one oil in there but to no avail. What I really need to do is to get into the area where the fan is and open it up but I can not see how I can do this on the case.

Does anybody have this older model case and know how I can get to the fan, either to fix it or put another new fan in its place which will work properly ?

This wouldnt be caused by the case, it is a fan or electrical problem.

If the fan is old it may have just reached the end of its life and died.

If it is a new fan be sure the electrical connections are good on both sides, ie the fan side and the power side.

If the fan still refuses to work it is most likely dead and you need a new one. Install of a new fan is easy, just unscrew the old one, put the new one in its place and plug it into the correct power supply, either 3-pin or molex.

I understand it is a fan problem, and not the case.

It is an old fan, which came with the case, and the case is about 8 years old. The question is how to unscrew the old fan. I do not see anything on the case which allows me to get to the area where the fan is in order to remove it and install a new fan or to see if oiling it will allow the fan blades to turn easily again. These older Lian Li cases seem to have no easy way to get to the fans that were installed with them when I bought the case.

Also contacting Lian Li to ask them about how to access the fans on the case is next to impossible. They make wonderful hardware but their web programming for their web site is truly horrible. After filling out a tech request form from them I always inevitably get a message that wherever the form was sent it never gets to a valid e-mail address.
