41c Idle
Is this ok, i run my Q8400 2.66ghz @ 3.5ghz
my temp never really moves from that, only increases by maybe a degree Celsius maybe when rendering that is all.

Have you ever seen it go under 41°C?

Also, can you run the "Small FFTs" test in Prime95 for 10 minutes? This will show us the maximum temperature.

It doesnt move, even under heavy load? That sounds more like a stuck sensor than anything else to me. You should be getting at least a 10C shift (probably more) from idle to full load with your current setup.

No, ive actually never seen it go under 41c, even after i took my old zalman tunnel flower off to replace with my cm-v8. Should i maybe load back up stock settings and see if anything different?

never see it move really on when rendering videos. But if its reading 41c and above why not 41c and under?

Sensors are definately stuck. They will only show movement when the cpu is put under load. Realtemp has a feature wich allows you to test the sensors. Might be worth to give it a go.

what are your temps after 10 minutes of prime?

Attached file is 10 minutes of small FFT prime on, with sensor test on.
Can someone analyse this for me please so i know whats going on, because my temp readings do actually change at appropriate times, like when you would expect them too... but they dont budge much

Yeah, I definitely say that sensor is stuck. If I recall it was a quite common occurrence on some Core 2's.

It cant really be that dangerous can it? its no big deal really is it?
and is there any way i get un-stick the sensor? maybe taking it out then putting it back in? Thanks for your input

p.s- still dont get how it can be stuck when the temps are increasing and decreasing?
