Ok so I made 4.0 thanks to all your help

I downloaded prime95 and used it for the first time. I ran the small FFT option without changing any settings and it bluescreened almost immediately. I left all my other settings and lowered the CPU frequency.

Is there anything I can do to make it more stable at 4.0?

Alright well I made some changes. I have an MSI GTX460 Cyclone 1GD5 now.

I also took advice from here and ditched the ram. Currently I have 8gigs of G. Skill DDR3-1600 Ripjaw series ram. I am attempting to get it back to 4.0 more stable this time, but I am not having the best of luck. I can't get it to boot stable over 3.5 really :/

Looks like running at around 1066Mhz 7-7-7-20 generic setting (with slight OC to 1140) apparently worked for you
Grats....
You may need more vCore if small FFTs fail. How are temperatures looking though? Cooler = less voltage need. Playing around with tubing position can really help with temps so I've heard from another H50/AMD owner.

I am now using this pc 100% on a monitor as a gaming PC with just 1tb drive in it. Currently at the 2.8 stock bios settings. I think today with a day off I will check for updates to the bios and then give overclocking a go again. I want something 100% stable for gaming, so probably nothing insane.

Is there one specific program anyone recommends running after to log and compare temps at each overclock setting? I need to know how much hotter I am actually getting.

At 3.2GHz stock voltages and memory timings. So far after a few hours it hasn't gone over 48*C. I am worried about the +- 10* with this CPU. That means it COULD be as high as 58*C in reality right?

Hey Darkrom, Sick build because i pretty much have the same build as you. I have the Gigabyte 890GPA, the 1055T, and i have 16gigs of the G.Skill Ripjaw DDR3.

I have liquid cooling to the CPU and have been trying to overclock but i just cant seem to get past 3.2Ghz. Im a noobie at overclocking and followed some guides but nothing seems to be working. I really want to clock the CPU to over 4.0Ghz. I havent read all the way through your thread but i will now and i will also ask how you did it. Thanks

Grats on the decent 1055T, be glad you did not have my 1055T, unstable as a mother above 3380mhz with out some serious voltage.

My thread has a lot of the info from other people being generous and me experimenting. If you need help with anything specific ask away and I'll do my best. I'm still new to overclocking, but I feel like I have a decent general understanding. My terminology may be wrong, but I can overclock my setup easily without much of an issue. Right now because it is used 100% for gaming, I have kept it at 3.19 ghz. I worry about temp with new games I play such as Dead Island. My biggest issue with the X6 is that the temps aren't accurate which is scary that it could be off by as much as 10 degrees.

that's 3 of us with the same build but I only have 4GB ramz

i went 250x14 for 3.5ghz with a little volt increase...tried higher but just got BSODs.

Will try for more once i get a dedicated GPU.

IIRC (can't check, at work) my ripjaws are 1.6v, the board defaults them at 1.5v.

I talked a bit with XD on my own thread and got a lot of insight there.

He basically gave me the information to run my 1055T at 3.5GHz, but i cant go any higher considering how low-grade my ram is.

Basically if anyone is having a problem overclocking the 1055T past ~3.5Ghz, then you should look at your RAM and see if it is either 1333 rating or 1600. XD told me that 1333 is pretty much the low of the low and isnt very well off for Overclocking, and when you try to do extreme overclocks that is usually the issue that causes the BSOD. Im currently in the process of returning the 16 Gigs (WAY too much i found out) i just bought and picking up 8 Gigs of 1600 or 1866 Ram instead so i can get my 1055T ~4.0GHz.
