n00b overclock questions

Thread Starter
I have been reading this tutorial/guide:

http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ing-guide.html

Here is my question. Is Reference clock overclocking the best/simplest route? I figure that if I overlclock by changing the multipliers, then later decide to raise the reference clock for other components it could get really confusing. Also, when the system becomes unstable, and my CPU isn't as high as I want it, do I raise the CPU voltage. For example, if my reference clock is at, say, 230mhz and the CPU is around 3.8Ghz and I cant go higher to say, 4Ghz, would the voltage get me there?

Or would I be right in saying that I should change via cpu multiplier, change voltage if needed, then change the reference clock to get an additional boost?

I know a lot about PCs but overclocking is a new world to me. Just got the new hardware...

yes with higher Frequency you need Higher Voltage try getting higher CPU ratio then when you hit max (i'm gussing @ x16.0 cuz you dont have Black edition) try going higher in your CPU Bus

Sorry I do have a BE but I must have forgot it on my sig rig. Anyways by CPU ratio do you mean the reference clock? sorry I only know the terms used in my bios

ok CPU Ratio is the x14 thing and and the CPU Bus is the 200MHz thing xD ^^ LOL
14X200=2800MHz which is you CPU Frequency
