Huge Build Problem!

Thread Starter
just build my pc from scratch and i have gone to turn on the pc and nothing has showed on the monitor, no BIOS, nothing. i have an asus x58 1366 M.B and there is a light that indicates the 'DRAM_LED', manual says that its a problem with the DIMM but that is all installed correctly. the manual says that the RAM is compatible blah blah but i dont know what to do......

any suggestions?

Try reseting the bios, or RMA the motherboard.

Take out all the ram and try one stick at a time. You can isolate the problematic stick. Also it's possible that you did not seat them properly.

You need to isolate your issue.. Try making sure everything you have is not only compatible, but is compatible with your current bios version... For example, my old Crosshair II Formula motherboard had to be updated for X6 support. I updated the bios with the old processor and went from there.

Do you have a case speaker plugged into your board? are you getting any post beeps? Usually this is a good indication of what's wrong.

Reseat everything, and bring it down to the bare essentials.

right so ive just checked the motherboard manual and the compatable RAM for the kingston hyperX range are the 1600MHz:
KHX1600C9D3K3/12GX(XMP) 12GB(3x4GB)
KHX1600C8D3K2/4GX(XMP) 4GB(2x2GB)
KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX(XMP) 6GB(3x2GB)

it also says in the manual that the 1600MHz RAM can only be used in 3 modules, so i cant use the 6 that i bought.

the model that i have bought is the:
KHX1600C9AD3K2/4G
and i have 3x(2x2GB)

any advice??

did you make sure to insert the ram in the correct order? you cant have the sticks starting off right next to the cpu socket. there should be a free slot and then the ram and then free and on and on.

yes, i followed the manual specs on the different combos that you can do with it, what do you think i should do from here because even when trying just one DIMM of RAM in the 1st channel , slot A, the Mempry warning light was still illuminated

do any fans come on at all? did you try starting from the power button on the board itself?

can you take a picture of the build so we try to see any problems?

Unplug all usb, vid card, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and all but one stick of ram.

restart, if it posts and u see the hard drive light blinking and no leds stay lit, shut down and plug in your vid card, restart, same result? Cool, shut down and plug in monitor... keep adding plug ins till your starting with all accessories. After all that start adding ram, one stick at a time.

You have to isolate the problem. Try everything by itself. Also, you have standoffs on the case, correct?
