People who have built the computers that can play modern day games generally have knowledge enough to pirate games. It's easy. You go download it, you open up the game, you install. That information is easily accessible. However, on a console, you have to open up your system and mod it, or do a software mod. It requires a lot less knowledge to get a console (I'm not hating, just stating facts) than it does to get a PC, so that transfers over quite a bit.
Well I was thinking the same thing as you in regards to knowledge and the tendency of pirating...I didnt mention this in a attempt to not sound like a "PC Elitist" like some are charging here.. But also did mention in my original post that if the knowledge and ability to do so was avaliable to the average console gamer, then the amount of pirating for consoles would rise... Most likely to levels that would pale in regards to the PC gaming industry...
Go to any Gamestop and attempt to buy a used copy of a hot game...What is the best markdown you see on that kind of game...10 bucks if you are lucky... When one can buy a used copy of a PC game for almost half at times... That is because devs know the average console gamer usually dont have the knowledge to cheat the system...

So, I came into the "game" much sooner than most people on this board did. I'm just not jaded by an elitist "PC Gamer" view like most. I realize the importance of the consoles and what they've done for gaming and I enjoy gaming on consoles and on PC.
First console was the Atari(before it was even termed 2600), also had TI-99A and first personal computer was a apple IIc... First game i bought for it was Wizardry... Also played Archon and Ultima I-IV on it... Played the ultima I-X series from apple to IBM PCs... So been in the "game" for long time too.. I recall much more pirating to be had in the 80s to mid 90s and that didnt stop developers from producing games for PC... Hell Half life would have never been developed if the developers had their "piracy" excuse attitude they have nowadays...
In the past, consoles and PCs had their own seperate markets... Then M$ entered with their dumbed down PC, disguised as a console...Then we started seeing the console port games, that we see so prevelant now..
And before you tag me with "PC Elitist" tag...I own a PS3 and Wii...There are titles that are exclusive to those consoles i do wish to play... Besides PS3 makes a good blu ray player too..
