Just got an H50 and I would like to know the best positioning for the radiator

Title pretty much says it all. I plan on installing this sucker this weekend and I have a CM690 case. Would I position the fan as intake or exhaust? Also, back of the case or top?

Exhausting top, if thats not possible then rear exhaust. I would recommend push pull fans no less than 60cfm apiece.

I had my h50 on the back of my case sucking air from the outside in through the rad and exiting the top of the case.

Corsair recommends you have it intaking from the back, and I would have to agree. I did a few experiments and I discovered that between exhausting out the back and venting in from the back vs exhausting out the top vs venting from the top, the venting in from the back gave the best temps.

Also get 2 better fans in a push/pull config. gentle typhoon ap-15s are good. I used scythe s-flex Fs for mine.

I had my H50 mounted as intake in my 5.25 drive bays... Then exhausting out the top.
So I guess we all agree on the intake part. I have mine intake as well. Got better temps than exhaust.

Hi,

No,

Don't all agree. lol

All depends on case and setup.
At the time had the H50 had two big 140 fans front and side panel
as intakes, with a 120&140 exhausting at the top.

Tried both ways in the push pull setup.
Saw no difference thru software as to difference.

(Other) than in case temps went up (Quite) abit.
Might as well take a hot hair dryer and use it for intake as to
in case cooling.

My plan was to remove in case heat and did while keeping CPU as cool as possible.

(Depends on setup.)

Took me to 4.2 Prime Blend depending on ambient at times.
YMMV
