Upgrading my card need advise

Thread Starter

I am in the process of upgrading my graphics card. I feel like that the 6950 would be the best card for my budget. Going to flash it to a 6970 and get more $ value out of it. Wondering how much of a performance increase I should be seeing compared to my 5770 and how easy the flashing process is.

I am looking at this card from amazon.

I picked amazon because I can get 3.99 next day shipping which is awesome.

Anyways, what you guys think of this card?

Great card. I don't know anything about flashing a GPU, but if it is anything like flashing a mobo, it can be risky. Much better performance than a 5770.

if your budget is a 6950 then you could also afford 2 6850's to crossfire and get about 40% more preformance, thats what i'm running right now

Yea but single card is still better. Less issues.

My board only has a x4 or else I would have considered CF'ing the 5770.

A 6950 is huge improvement over 5770. The flashed performance is virtually identical to 6970.

You can see the success from this article. Keep in mind there hundreds and perhaps thousands that have successfully flashed their 6950.

http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/159

I personally have flashed (6) cards now from 3 different brands. All worked with no issues. I've been beating the crap out of mine since X-mas 2010, and they're still running strong.
