Can intel controller handle 4 drives in 2 raid0 configs?

Hey there...
I have 1 raid0 volume with 2 Corsair's SSD's.

I jut got 2 Seagate momentus xt and i was thinking... do you think there's any problem to install the momentus and run them in raid0 config? I would have 2 raid 0 volumes basically ... or is pushing too much of the controller

Thanks

i'd think the ssd part of the momentus would go wonkey with raid. could be wrong, haven't looked into it.

Well, i saw a test with the momentus in raid0 ... and was really nice...
I'm still trying to decide if i should go 1 or 2 ... maybe i'll go only 1 momentus, since it's to backup my ssd's in terms of disc space ... but i was thinking if i got a raid0 of momentus, would be really nice and i could use it as boot drive for games...

In all honesty, Momentus XT in RAID isn't particularly the best choice if you're just going for storage capacity. The drives are expensive, for the cost of 2 of the 500 GB ones you could have a 6x 1TB RAID 5 array that's actually redundant, has higher sequential R/W, as well as more storage..

Why would you have SSD RAID if you want to put your OS back on a mechanical drive?
Doesn't make sense.

I've setup several different RAID arrays on X58 boards and P55 boards. I've never had a problem running RAID 0+1 off a onboard controller. Don't see why you'd have a problem at all.
Current setup has a RAID 0 array and a RAID 1 array running of the motherboard controller, and has for a good while now. (over a year at least) and everything is still working fine for me.

You want to run 2xRAID0 SSDs and 2xRAID0 Momentus XT? This is fine.
Once again...

Doesn't make sense.

Nope, the OS will be on the SSD raid volume.
The main apps/games will be on the SSD raid volume.

Secondary games, movies and other stuff will be on the Momentus Raid volume.
I know about price... but since running games/movies/other stuff like that, it's a very repetitive procedure, i was thinking that this should work cool. And it's a question of space... since i moded my case to get more space for the radiators... and i had to remove part of my hd cage

Update: Well i guess the RAID thing with the momentus is off. Been reading that they don't work that good in Raid ...

Anyone knows if there are updates on this and if there's any new firmware that fixed the problems?

Update: well, after visiting Seagate foruns, i guess the momentus isn't really stable to the date so i can rely on it ... :x bummer

Wouldn't really expect much of a boost with 8 GB total of solid state, mate..

It wasn't the boost i was looking for... it was just something quicker than my WD 1Tb Black with 2 years Bah... i guess i'll just get another SSD when i get the money for it ...

So far, Seagate customer service in the forums Suck Big Time! I'm not wasting my time and money on hard drive that, for what i see, who buys it, never really get the full picture of the product...

I only see ppl complaining and with problems in the Seagate forum

Thank you all ppl
