Opinions?

Can currently be had for around $70, should I pull the trigger or are there any external dac/sound cards that offer superior quality for around the same price?

Don't do it, sir. I bought one. You get random pops in your speakers for no reason. Especially when opening applications. Even during music, gaming and TV. It's a horrible product in my opinion. There was another reason I got rid of it, but I can't remember. The main reason was the loud popping that almost blew my speakers.

Whoa, that sounds dangerous, especially when I'm an all around IEM user.

If anybody has a suggestion for a best bang for buck sound card, I'm all ears

Honestly, the only other USB I've ever used is them tiny little flash drive sized sound cards... i'm sure they offer very little gain over your onboard...hehehe. But I stand by my claim to stay away from the Xfi USB. I don't know if it's Creative themselves???? Or if it's just the fact of having a high quality card going through your USB. Maybe it was just my PC... regardless, I wouldn't reccomend it based ONLY on my experience. Hopefully someone else can shed some light.

Google reviews of it.... even check user reviews on Newegg and such. You'd be surprised how much info you get from that. I always check Newegg's customer comments before I buy something because theres always so many.
