i think i am missing something because i cannot seem to get my theme to work. I go to the blog and download this and restart, place the files in c: resources and themes, but it still isnt working. I have tried to figure out where the explorer.exe file and the explorerFrame.dll but i am lost on those for the buttons. Any help would be great.

Could you at least post a screen shot so we could see exactly what the issue is? Also, did you folow this step in the link?

Sometimes, in x64 Windows, you need to patch 2 copies of files:
using UniversalThemePatcher-x64.exe to patch the 64bit files in \\windows\\system32;
and using UniversalThemePatcher-x86.exe to patch the 32bit files in \\windows\\syswow64.

the issue is that i installed my inspirion 1720 driver disc. However i cannot get the drivers for the GPU to install. It indicates its for vista and i now have 7. I am trying to figure out which GPU i have in my inspirion 1720, get the drivers installed or figure out how to get the drivers to install

EDIT: yes i did check google and nvidia's website for a soultion and have not found anything

Obviously you need to go to nividia.com or ati.com and download the latest Windows 7 32 or 64 (depending upon what platform you are using of Windows 7) edition of the driver and install it, you can't install a vista driver on a windows 7 machine unless the driver supports multi-OS installtion, nevertheless, Nividia has the 9800 GT X2 driver (forceware) and it will work, I'm sure..

Yes you are somewhat correct. I ended up having to go to dell and look up my laptop specs an then head to nvidia an enter my os and gpu spec to download the drivers. The Dell cd drivers were only compatible with vista and this was a 7 install. I'm trying to make sure I have all graphic features and I can get theme to install but I'm not allowed to change to transparent or the color which is my problem. I forgot the name of it but I ran a check and it was a repair that said I was not compatiable to it which was why it wouldn't work. Thats when I figured out it was a gpu driver problem.

its called: Aero Theme on Windows 7

I fix many computers every day, have been doing it for years, I don't waste my time installing drivers from a disk, I go straight to NVIDIA & ATI and get the latest forceware driver, it has served me very well over the years, truly.
