Data recovery help needed

Thread Starter
Is there a software that can recover data while retaining the original file structure and filenames?

What are you looking to back up? There are programs that allow you to recover pictures and the sort, but I am sure that there could be software to recover most things as long as it hasn't been too long and haven't gotten written over.

Best bet is to make a dedicated rig, especially when you have mass amounts of data to be backing up.

I think to get the filename, you need to recover it from the MFT. Most programs I've used recover RAW data from the disk, and don't associate path and filenames. You should look for a program that recovers deleted files, or specifically states that it will look from the MFT, or that it preserves filenames.

If the MFT has been corrupted or overwritten, I'm not sure you CAN recover the names and paths.

Easeus free edition claims to recover paths and filenames but I have NOT used it.
