[Cleaning] Is all canned air the same?

Thread Starter
I honestly didn't know which board to post this in, but it relates to cases, at least as far as cleaning them.

Are all canned air/duster products the same? I would think it's a product that you couldn't improve on. I mean, you compress air and put it in an aerosol can. But I've seen products that hint at, without directly advertising, additives that improve upon the cleaning process. An example would be "NINJA Is Not Just Air" ("it's also dust-slaying Nano-shurikens of Doom", says the blurb on the can. I emailed Think Geek, the only merchant that carried it for a time, and asked if there was actually an ingredient unique to this product, but couldn't get a straight answer).

Conversely, as opposed to "beneficial" additives, are there brands out there that are known to contain impurities? I mean kinda like how Ronson brand butane for jet flame lighters is, quite literally, full of crap that'll gunk up the lighter.

For canned air, I prefer the non-bitterant added ones. The bitterant really makes it hard to be around the computer after a cleaning.

Office Depot's store brand has no bitterant, plus the larger can is a must.

I like my MG chemicals, cheap, and lots of force.
Bitterant is pretty much mandated up here. There's even talks of needing ID to buy compressed air...

Already done down here, now that I work at a Staples I can probably get it without being carded, but elsewhere they ask for my ID.

Get this. Save you some money in the long run. The only caveat is that it's loud.

or have a large air compressor in your garage

Never knew how often I would use an air compressor until my dad got one.

THIS

Honestly, that thing has been on my Amazon wish list for weeks now...keep talking myself out of getting it. Mainly because the car always needs something done to it.

i have that duster mentioned above - you wouldn't believe how much dust it blew out of my case and the entire thing looked brand new as if i just bought it

it's loud - but also it's quite powerful. if you have suspect connections or weak whatever, i'd spray from a distance. aside from that - use it in a place where the dust can do elsewhere besides your room haha

I hate the ones with the bittering agent. You spray that can enough and you can inadvertently breath that crap in. Tastes sooo gross.

I'm all for carding people, as long as I can get some without that bittering agent.

I personally use my compressor mostly but still have a few cans handy for the times I dont want to wait for the compressor to fill up part way.
