NGP is going to rock the world. They have a powerhouse in their hands. One solitary platform. It's like there was a console that wad composed of dual Xeons and quad sli 580s all water cooled, devs would go nuts at what's at their feet. If you factor in optimization vs fragmentation of th pc. Market something like that could make pc users switch over to consoles if the graphics got that good. Same goes for this. The sheer hardware is balls out insane. A nice A9 quad core. How amazing is that. Take that games. Pfft no longer will I play Ps one era games with like no campaign. Now I shall play full console games with console length stories all in mini size. Hell to the yes.

Or you have 3DS with games like ocarina of time. Bad arse. But it begs to question why not just place this on the DS? 3D function is pathetic.

I will personally get the 3DS because it has better games, better sagas, a 3D screen (and sir, that's revolutionary), a touchscreen that comes in very handy if you've gamed 6 years of your life on one, and it's actually HANDHELD and you don't need this to carry it around:

I'm surprised that joke a stereoscopic 3D amazes you. It's dual gpus are truly bad. The games it will have will be great simply fantastic, but it's 3D function will leave much to be desired. The NGP on the other hand has a nice size screen. Come on 5" is the bare min I'd take. I've been mobile gaming as long as anyone, Gameboy color. So that puts me at what.. 13 years of my life in mobile gaming. I even dig touch screen as I am a very serious gamer on the iPhone. Had both the DS (AMAZING GAMES and the touch screen was alright) and the PSP ( some of my favorite games were on it). I have more faith in the NGP though, come on nintendo did virtual boy not teach you ANYTHING?

3ds looks quite good, but you wont get the same quality that you get from the Sony. the Sony gives you what you want.
the 3ds is more of a family thing, more for people that are not to seriouse on the gamming front.
all in all the Sony NGP looks the better buy.

The Virtual Boy was more revolutionary than the 3DS for its time, and look how that worked out. I'm not saying it SHOULD have made it like the 3DS, but still.

I liked my Virtual Boy hehe. Nintendo still fell off from N64 up for me.

Yea I did read somewhere that the GPU on the 3DS was a major throwback with some small improvements to it. Kinda turned me off from the 3DS. I also saw this preview of a guy playing the ocarina of time on the 3DS and the only thing he really said was 3D was the text bubbles, also a major turn off. *sigh* I'm thinking what I will do, is wait for the 3DS to launch, check out it's actual gameplay and looks at a store where I hold it in my hands (even if it means waiting behind 50 8 year olds to do it) and then see how it handles for myself before I pull any sort of trigger.

On a side note, anyone else remember how awesome Gamegear was? hahah

I'm actually disappointed that then NGP is receiving such ridiculous hype over its hardware specs. Once again it's graphics, graphics, graphics, power, power, power, etc. Seems gamers only have a one-track mind these days. Heck, the PSP and DS already have a handful of games that far surpass a lot of console/PC games in terms of quality and fun.

I'm most impressed by the addition of a second analog stick and touch screen/stylus. Those are at least improvements on the gameplay front. I still can't shake my fear of a ridiculous price point to go along with the hardware though. It'll be interesting to see, considering the 3DS was lampooned for $250, which is the most I'll pay for a handheld.

Powerful hardware doesn't make a good game. The vast majority of my most memorable games being on older consoles is proof of that.

I played PSP a lot more then DS. I just could play Pokemon, Mario when i was 17 years old. In PSP i could play GOW, GTA, Tekken etc.

Powerful hardware doesn't make a good game. The vast majority of my most memorable games being on older consoles is proof of that.
But it sure as heck increases the experience. Going from the GBA to DS blew my mind, but the 3DS just looks like a regular DS with retard-o-vision.

You know why I'm excited for NGP?Campagins. Now we will have free roam. Now we will have longer campaigns. Full length console campaign not short little ones. I'm tired of being short changed and while the DS wasn't that bad on that account, PSP was and it pissed me off. huge time Ratchet and Clank fan, the mini psp version PISSED ME OFF. it wa so short, since I got it years Ago I've probably beat it with everything over 9000 times. DS had some memorable stuff like the N64 game remakes but some games like Pokemon mystery dungeon? Atrocious. I remember one of my first games was nintendawgs and that was awesome. Played a few rts games on DS and they were alright, felt like they couldve been on GBA, like dragon ball z games on the DS, they were fun tourney style, but it didn't look like anything the GBA couldn't handle. List goes on.

PSP had its remakes too, like Mega Man X. MAN WAS IT GOOD. racing games sucked balls on it, shooters were super fun but everything looked like a bunch of polygons mashed together, as in the case with Stars Battlefront II (which btw is one hell of a game after 5 years still). I played both for the DS (2004-2009) and PSP (2005-2011), before owned the GBA AND THAT WAS PERFECT. oh gosh how I miss the GBA days.

Psone with the screen and car charger was also really cool, HAF that in my younger days.

But I'm looking forward to developers not short changing me. When I see a port from a console, I expect to VE just that, a port from a console, not some castrated, mutilated excuse of the original game. And I don't want some weird port either, just give me that darn console game. If I'd asked for a weird port. ID HAVE BOUGHT ONE INSTEAD.

So 3DS pisses me off because it's more of the same, seriously it's the DS with two stylus and a virtual boy in play. but NGP, hey hey my man, now were going places

That's why I love the hardware for the psp, better graphics but above all, devs not being so darn lazy. Now they don't have excuse to scale Down from their console games. They can basically take any game, reduce quality by a bit, and slap it on in, NGP can handle it.
Xbox 360 is what 300mil? For 720p? Theyd have to scale back by under 1/3 and the res is under 720p (but that's just scaling, my point is stuff doesn't look that bad in lower res. Case in point is crysis. Couldnt tell you the difference from when I tried it for fun on 800x600 whether I was using mega amounts of AA or not and when it was on medium or enthusiast).
NGP, please let devs not sit on their butts and be lazy.

I have four games in my PSP collection (only have 5 total right now) that top 40 hours easily, with the fifth clocking in at around 15-20. A handful that I'm looking to buy are 30+ hours and mimic console experiences. Games like Persona 3 Portable, Valkyria Chronicles II, Star Ocean: First Departure/Second Evolution, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, etc.

Plus, the 3DS isn't just a DS with 3D. Compare screenshots or gameplay videos to anything on the DS now. It blows it out of the water. If developers forgo 3D effects I'd imagine they'll be able to squeeze quite a bit of eye candy out of it.

DS (Kingdom Hearts re:Coded)

3DS (Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance)
