Stay away from their junk because thats all it is. I received 3 HD4450's in a row from them and they all had popping sounds out of the HDMI I told them it was a compatability issue and that they advertised it WRONG claiming it was compatable with PCIE2.0 when in fact there is no HDMI compatability unless you have PCIE2.1 or better... but that did not stop them from trying to make it work, they even had the gual to try and charge me return shipping when it clearly states a 2 year warranty, they had to call fuc-ing china to get permission to eat the return shipping finally they shipped me a refurbished pos HD4650 that was in a brown box, no driver, no nothing but an all beat up REFURBISHED PIECE OF ****TT~> the fan was on its last leg and they called that pos an "upgrade"! what a joke... the chinese still dont understand american customer service, never have,...never will... their culture is all about the $$$ and eating cats n rice DO NOT BUY THEIR CRAP-O-LA! EVER!! NEVER EVER EVER!!!thumb.gif

I got newegg upper mgmt on their ass because thats the only language they comprehend.... ya whisper in newegg's complaint department long enough their buyer sends them a nasty email and then all of a sudden the flood gates of customer service come open... trust me, IGNOT the rebate offers because they NEVER send the checks!!!, I bought 4 cards with rebates from newegg and nada one rebate check received from Althon...ITS A REBATE SCAM and newegg is well aware of it they got like 5000 complaints on file for the failure to actually make good on the Saphire rebates...do ya self a favor and spent the $3 more to get a REAL product with REAL customer service because this "company" has not a clue folks! NEVER AGAIN!biggrin.gif

Here's the story:

My 2GB 5870 (sig rig) was acting up in 3D applications with this annoying buzzing sound, and I sent it for RMA through Sapphire's warranty and physically shipped to Althon Micro.

I had to pay $15 because I didn't have a receipt/proof of purchase.

Sent it in (UPS-$14), and after missing out on 2 weeks of BC2:Nam action, I get crap back.

Here's the email of the current situation I sent to Althon Micro right now:
Quote:
Althon Micro,

I received the card.

And according to the email sent me, I was told I were to get a NEW 5870 2GB, and it turned out that it is NOT.

"It is new HD5870 EYEFINITY 6 2GB or you can take HD5870 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E TOXIC edition, but it it refurbished.

Regards,

RMA Dept.
Althon Micro, Inc"

You can clearly tell it is a used/refurbished card because the PCI slot is very bent. I had to take apart the case just to make the card fit since the metal piece was bent down.
And I do have a pictures that are attached.

Moreover, the fan of the replacement card is "shaky" since it is generating a rumbling sound. And no, nothing is obstructing the movement of the fans by my components, everything is clear.

And ultimately, the card is making a buzzing sound in 3D applications again.

It is very disappointing and upsetting that after all this time+$15 for a replacement, I get a card that is in worse condition than compared to the previous one I sent in.

Not only did I have to revert to my laptop because of the original card failing, since I use my PC with this 2GB 5870 for work and college material, I may also have to do it AGAIN.

Althon Micro/Sapphire, I am not trying to take advantage of anything or anyone here, but I simply would like a card that works for what it is worth (was: $399.99
$279.99).

Please help out a very frustrated customer.

Thanks

Thoughts?

i would like to say that i once bought a "new" nvidia 9500 GT off amazon for cheap, once it arrived the box was all messed up, i then took out the graphics card and noticed the exact same damage done to the card, i was not able to fit it in the case either, what i did is... (barbaric way) hammer it down until it was straight lol, and guess what.... it worked fine smile.gif gave the product/seller an average rating since it worked but was damaged. if it didnt work AND was damaged it would give him a negative rating and request a replacement or something. good luck, dont worry much about using that hammer to straighten it up smile.gif good luck thumb.gif

just be glad that they made the courtesy to rma your card.

no receipt/proof of purchase usually means no warranty
