Sent it in (UPS-$14), and after missing out on 2 weeks of BC2:Nam action, I get crap back.
Here's the email of the current situation I sent to Althon Micro right now:
I received the card.
And according to the email sent me, I was told I were to get a NEW 5870 2GB, and it turned out that it is NOT.
"It is new HD5870 EYEFINITY 6 2GB or you can take HD5870 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E TOXIC edition, but it it refurbished.
Althon Micro, Inc"
You can clearly tell it is a used/refurbished card because the PCI slot is very bent. I had to take apart the case just to make the card fit since the metal piece was bent down.
And I do have a pictures that are attached.
Moreover, the fan of the replacement card is "shaky" since it is generating a rumbling sound. And no, nothing is obstructing the movement of the fans by my components, everything is clear.
And ultimately, the card is making a buzzing sound in 3D applications again.
It is very disappointing and upsetting that after all this time+$15 for a replacement, I get a card that is in worse condition than compared to the previous one I sent in.
Not only did I have to revert to my laptop because of the original card failing, since I use my PC with this 2GB 5870 for work and college material, I may also have to do it AGAIN.
Althon Micro/Sapphire, I am not trying to take advantage of anything or anyone here, but I simply would like a card that works for what it is worth (was: $399.99
Please help out a very frustrated customer.
i would like to say that i once bought a "new" nvidia 9500 GT off amazon for cheap, once it arrived the box was all messed up, i then took out the graphics card and noticed the exact same damage done to the card, i was not able to fit it in the case either, what i did is... (barbaric way) hammer it down until it was straight lol, and guess what.... it worked fine
gave the product/seller an average rating since it worked but was damaged. if it didnt work AND was damaged it would give him a negative rating and request a replacement or something. good luck, dont worry much about using that hammer to straighten it up
