possible to use tv and computer monitor at same time?

Thread Starter
currently ive been using my hd tv as a computer monitor because my 4670 only handles low resolutions well anyways. my question was if i upgraded to a better graphics card that supported dual monitors would i be able to still use my tv screen for gaming with my computer monitor on the side for other things like web surfing?

sorry if this is a noob question i just never seen anyone do it so i assume it doesnt work like that, but if it does i'd be stoked

Shouldn't be a problem. I know that I can change the resolution for each output and that should be what matters most.

Yeah I do it. Just get a good program that helps manage the monitors. I use UltraMon. Windows 7 by itself does a terrible job of monitor management.

I have it set to use 3 modes.

1. (boot mode) 25" main monitor with desktop 42" tv as secondary
2. 42" main monitor with desktop 25" as secondary
3. 25" only 42" disabled.

The only thing is you can't use both screens at once if you have a fullscreen game (or youtube) on one of them. Well you can, you can just only use the mouse on the one you are gaming on. But I'll often have a movie or TV show on the 42" and game on the 25" and switch it up now and again.
